Gratuitous Tank Battles is a tower defense/strategy game that mixes things up a little bit by allowing you to design and customize your own towers and units. Apart from that, it also switches things up by allowing you to choose whether to be the defender (traditional tower defense gameplay) or the attacker, who spawns units to try to get past the AI's defenses. These changes do a fair amount to spice up a tired genre, but I think the game's price tag makes this a tough sell for all but the biggest tower defense fans out there.
